Our Medical Services

Primary Care

At Nuestra Familia Medical Center, we know what quality primary care service means. Led by a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician who knows that primary care is the foundation of our health care system and is essential to improving health outcomes. We are very diligent in two aspects of quality primary care:

  • Medical Access

Our patients have full access to us.  The offices are open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.  However, in the case of urgent matters and after hour services we are accessible 24/7.  If you dial our number at any time outside office hours there will be someone available to take your call and help you.

We also offer same day appointments and accept walk-ins.  In the case you need medical care and cannot come to the clinic, a medical staff will come to your house to assist you.

  • Continuity of Care

We firmly believe in continuity of care as an essential factor in providing excellent medical service. Continuity of care, in the sense that a patient repeatedly visits the same physician and forms a therapeutic relationship, has been described as an essential feature of general practice.

In addition to providing services in the Primary Care setting, we follow up our patients through hospital and rehabilitation center admissions.  This knowledge and familiarity help personalize your care for the optimal results.

Dentistry

Our center has a fully equipped dental facility conducted by  professionals in the field. Caring for the oral health of our elderly and knowing the factors related to oral aging are part of our medical services. The following dental services are offered in our center:

  • Cleanings (prophylactic, scaling and root)
  • Crowns
  • Dentures (full/complete, partial, temporary, flexible)
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Root canal
  • X-rays
  • Implants

All dental work will be carefully reviewed and approved by our doctors according the risks factors involved.

Cardiology

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is considered the leading underlying cause of death. It claims more lives each year than all forms of cancer and chronic respiratory disease combined.

At Nuestra Familia Medical Center we are privileged to have a Board Certified Interventional Cardiologist on our team. He is personally in charge of the cardiovascular medical care of our patients and with special attention in the management of coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking, physical inactivity and nutrition.

Psychiatry

Mental health influences the health of the body and vice versa. Inattention to this important area not only causes physical injuries but also serious chronic problems such as insomnia, depression and anxiety. Mental health is part of the physical health.  That is why we consult our patients with a specialist on the field for the best outcome in treatment.

Pain Management

Through a pain management plan, healthcare providers help patients manage all kinds of pain. Pain management approaches include oral medications, injections (PRP, cresta de gallo, hyaluronic acid), therapy and exercise. Your provider may recommend one approach or a combination of several. Pain management plans help people with chronic pain from disease or health conditions feel better and improve their quality of life.

Physical Therapy

Our PT department works in conjunction with our doctors and Pain Management specialist.  This collaboration enhances the treatment and its outcome.

  • Manual therapy
Includes massage, mobilization, manipulation, and strengthening exercises.

  • Exercise
Used to target weak muscles, address muscle imbalances, and keep aches and pains at bay.

  • Hot/Cold Therapy
Ice is used to reduce inflammation and swelling in acute soft tissue injuries due to its ability to constrict blood vessels.
Heat, on the other hand, is more appropriate for treating muscle tension and spasms to reduce pain and increase mobility. Additionally, heat also improves tissue flexibility, making it a useful tool for stretching tendons, ligaments, and muscles.

  • Acupuncture
Complimentary therapy that stimulates specific points to help alleviate pain associated with

  • Ultrasound
High-pitched sound waves are applied to promote circulation while generating heat deep within the connective tissues.

  • Infrared Light Therapy
It helps with cell regeneration and repair. Improves blood circulation and promotes deep tissue healing and pain relief.

  • HydroMassage
A bed that contains pressurized jets inside that will move the body in an up and down relaxing motion.  You will stay dry, as the liquid is enclosed inside the bed, but it will alleviate stress, anxiety, and muscle tension.

  • Electrical stimulation
This technique involves the application of electrical stimulation to cause the muscles to contract. After traumatic injuries and certain types of surgery, this can help restore function and movement.

  • Education
Physiotherapy also includes an educational component. From instructing clients on daily exercises to do at home to training them on the use of assistive devices like wheelchairs and crutches.

  • Paraffin
A paraffin bath is another form of conductive heating. Paraffin baths are particularly useful for contractures due to rheumatoid arthritis, burns, and progressive systemic sclerosis (scleroderma).

Podology

Regular visits to a podiatrist are important to prevent complications, especially in diabetic patients. For this reason, we offer multiple services that include general care for your nails and feet, calluses, corns, bunions, ingrown nails, toenail fungus, and diabetic foot care. For toenail fungus, we now offer laser treatments, you will see improvement after 4-6 therapies, depending on the severity of the condition.

Optometry

We are very proud to have an optometry department with the training and skills to do much more than just evaluate people for glasses.

At Nuestra Familia Medical Center, optometrist Herman De Anna works closely with the primary care physician to identify patients’ chronic conditions and ensure they receive the appropriate medical care. Special attention is paid to low vision rehabilitation or geriatric eye care by identifying the effects of chronic systemic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia. These diseases, along with poor lifestyle choices such as smoking, poor nutrition, and alcohol and other substance abuse, are key factors in the development of age-related diseases such as macular degeneration, etc.
